Hannah Schockmel studied seventeenth-century Dutch art at the University of Maryland.  She is particularly interested in genre painting and how it reflected Dutch culture of the era.  She received her BA in Art History from Cornell University in 2014, where she spent her senior year studying Samuel van Hoogstraten’s “Perspective Box,” focusing on voyeurism and the female gaze.  She also worked at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, where she co-curated two exhibitions.
