Omeka - A Guide to Getting Started and Best Practices

Omeka - A Guide to Getting Started and Best Practices

In the Fall of 2014 three graduate students - Nicole Riesenberger, Cecilia Wichmann and Grace Yasumura - undertook yeoman work: they documented their successes and failures, false starts and breakthroughs in connection with three separate Omeka-based projects. Omeka and its associated plugins, especially Neatline, are powerful digital tools for curation and fashioning compelling narratives, but they also offer challenges in their successful implementation. The document Nicole, Cecilia and Grace has assembled is a comprehensive guide based on their work that will help first-time users shorten the Omeka learning curve; it also is a living document, so be sure and check back periodically to take advantage of refinements and updates to these best practices.
