Maryland Day a Great Success!

Maryland Day a Great Success!

Thursday, May 2, 2013

A pleasant day was had by all this past Saturday, April 27, not only outside on McKeldin Mall and campus writ large where an estimated 100,000 people turned up to visit the University of Maryland during its annual open house, but as well in the Collaboratory, where a smaller but steady number of visitors streamed in all day to partake in the excellent virtual exhibits on offer from the Collaboratory GAs, whether virtual models or a spin of the Google Earth. In particular the Quittman family appreciated the opportunity to sit down and drink in quick visits all around the globe, such as the Google Earth virtual Prado museum, wherein one may see just over a dozen masterpiece oil paintings in breathtaking detail. Often visitors showed up with no idea of what to expeect, having been led there by a charming and whimsical pattern of colorful dots from Tawes Plaza up to the fourth floor of the Art/Sociology Building (our home), the precocious brainchild of Lindsay Dupertuis, one of the GAs in the Collaboratory this Spring. We hope to see more of you next Spring, if not before!
